Adam Harvey

Adam Harvey of Waywords and MeansignsActor and ‘JoyceGeek’ Adam Harvey‘s extensive performance work with Finnegans Wake was first seen in 2001, when he debuted a memorized interpretation of Chapter 7, “Shem the Penman” for the North American James Joyce Conference at UC Berkeley, hosted by the great John Bishop. Since then, Adam’s Wake-work has been expanded to include chapter 8, “Anna Livia Plurabelle”, chapter 9, “The Mime of Mick, Nick and the Maggies”, and other passages scattered throughout the book. Adam has performed in countless venues and formats across the US and Europe. Hi-lights include a musical collaboration with Boston Baroque’s Martin Pearlman entitled “Finnegans Wake: an Operoar”; inclusion in Symphony Space’s annual “Bloomsday on Broadway” show where he has shared the stage with the likes of Isaiah Sheffer, Fionnula Flanagan, Keir Dullea, Barbara Rosenblatt and Stephen Colbert; and now – coming full orbit – leave it to Derek Pyle and W&M to hook Adam up with the legendary Mike Watt for another round with Shem.

Adam Harvey contributed to the second edition of Waywords and Meansigns, recording Book I chapter 7, “Shem the Penman”, collaborating Mike Watt.
